Assange has been charged with 18 federal crimes, including conspiring to obtain and disclose classified U.S. diplomatic cables, military reports from Iraq and Afghanistan, and other secret government documents. Assange's lawyers argued that the U.S. is targeting Assange for 'purely political' reasons.
