Quotations from
Greek philosopher Plato [427-347 B.C.E.]

Ancient Greek philosopher Plato founded the Academy in Athens circa 327 B.C.E., which was the first school of higher education in the Western world; among his students were Aristotle, Heraclides, Eudoxus, Philip of Opus, and Crantor. (The Academy continued in various forms until 529 C.E.). Plato established the written dialogue and dialectic forms in philosophy; his most notable works are "Apology" (a defence of Socrates), "Law" (on ethics), "Phaedo" (on the soul), "Phaedrus" (on rhetoric), "Symposium" (on love), and "The Republic" (on justice).
