While U.S. banks are paying 2% to 3% for non-liquid money market CDs (with fees & penalties galore), I.N.G. is paying 4.50% on deposits, with full liquidity, and also paying 5.10% on 12-month CDs. The benefit to you in doing this is the difference between a no-interest loan to the I.R.S. and 4.50% A.P.R. interest (or more) added to your savings account. [The automatic deposit to I.N.G. comes out of your checking account; automatic deposit to a credit union is typically from your paycheck.]

You must be responsible for this saving procedure, as your tax bill will indeed become due next April. But after paying your taxes then, you will have a handful of interest paid by I.N.G. or the credit union (or whoever).
